We are a family run farming enterprise incorporated in 1953 and based around Alford on the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds going down onto the Lincolnshire marshes.

The first farm bought by the family was purchased by ‘Grandpa’ Tansley, (E.S.Tansley) in the 1920s with money he made from being a director of ‘Players’, a tobacco company. He left the farm to his daughter Irene, who in turn passed it on to her son, Dennis Weston. Dennis greatly expanded the farm and it is now run by his daughter Gay James and her daughter Kitty Hamilton alongside managing director Nick Peck.

We are focusing on the future of British agriculture as a producer of high quality food products with high welfare and environmental credentials. Combinable crops, sugar beet, beef, lamb and pork are all produced to meet or exceed the standards of Red Tractor Assurance.

We are particularly keen on moving closer to our customers to improve the understanding of what we do and why.

Our land has a large range of soil types from chalk based wold land to heavy marsh clays enabling a wide variety of cropping, and arable production is at the heart of what we do.

We have expanded our livestock enterprises both to utilize grass, catch cropping and forage for conserving as winter feed. The manures produced are returned to the soils to enhance fertility and to build a more self-contained future enterprise.

We have invested heavily in storage and crop conditioning facilities and this has developed our ability to supply products to our customers year round.  Niche cropping of speciality innovative species is an expanding area of interest to us, with crops such as Ahiflower, spelt and soya all trialled.

Environmental stewardship schemes are in place across the majority of the farm, with extensive field margin and low input, traditional grassland management. We also have significant area of woodland, managed for wildlife, amenity and timber production.
